People’s Education Society, Jamkhed

The People’s Education Society, Jamkhed Dist- Ahmednagar is an institution established in 1951 by visionary and benevolent dignitaries namely Late Hon. Mishrilalji Kothari (President), Late Hon. Dr. B. M. Mahajan (Vice President), Late Hon. Madhukar Vasudev Deshmukh (Secretary). They had given valuable promise by confirming motto, “ Shraddhawan Labhate Dnyanam”.

In the beginning phase “Janta High School was started, to provide secondary school education specifically for economically and socially backward community especially those who are having an agricultural background. In 1953, Late Hon. Vasantrao Hoshing donated land to construct building for school. Late Hon. Godutai Hoshing donated Rs. 18000 in the memory of Late Hon. Laxman Narayan Hoshing. In due course of time the school flourished and became prominent school imparting secondary and higher secondary education to the students from Jamkhed and the villages in the vicinity of Jamkhed. Late Hon. Vitthalrao Hoshing donated 3acre land and Late Hon. Madhukar Vasudeo Deshmukh donated 10 acre land for the purpose of expansion of schools and college.

In due course of time institute started schools in nearby villages. Hon.Bahadur Dhawale Patil donated 3acre land to start school in Halgaon. Hon. Vitthal Shankar Funde , Hon.Vikram Pandharinath Funde Hon. Sahebrao Uttamrao Latpate, Hon. Bhagchand Sakharam Latpate, Hon. Dhanaji Genu Latpate donated land to start school in Rajuri. Now The People’s Education Society have been running total five schools, two Junior colleges, one senior college, one English medium school and one polytechnic college.

Jamkhed Mahavidyalaya, Jamkhed is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University Pune, which has been established on 1st June 1984 . The then ,President Late Hon. Sahebrao Patil and Secretary Late Hon. Bansilalji Kothari took tremendous effort and sought permission to start college. Both of them along with other directors, collected funds from Chief minister fund, ADCC Bank Ahmednagar, Zilha Parishad Ahmednagar and Hon. Sharadchandraji Pawar saheb (Member of council of state). In the year 2008, contemporary President Hon. Uddhavrao Deshmukh , Vice president Hon. Arun Chintamani, , Secretary Late. Hon. Moreshwar Deshmukh, Dy. Secretary Dilipji Gugale dreamt to start Diploma College of Engineering to fulfil the need of technical education and it came into reality in year 2009.

All the educational premises started by, “The People’s Education Society” have been developing and improving day by day. The management is continuously guiding and helping to make capable, outstanding students and responsible students for the society. Whole management is enthusiastic and eager to provide valuable time and fund-raising ideas for innovative programmes and infrastructural development and overall betterment of the students.
